When your package arrives, you'll find included plates that are compatible with both low-profile switches (also called MX switches) and high-profile switches. The only difference between the plates is their thickness - the low-profile plate is 3mm and the high-profile plate is 5mm (Figure 1). This difference in thickness allows for mounting different types of switches.
Also, considering the height difference when typing with thumb keys, we only use the 3mm plate instead of the 5mm plate.
Different length screws are required to attach the plates. (Note) The required quantity is included in the package! Use M2×10mm screws for high-profile plates and M2×6mm screws for low-profile plates.
Follow the order shown in the diagram below for smooth installation onto the PCB. If you find it "difficult to attach," try loosening the other screws slightly and adjusting the position for smoother installation.
Mechanical keyboards primarily come in two types: high-profile and low-profile. High-profile switches are also called MX switches due to their cross-shaped stem connection.
Low-profile switches come in various types and can be confusing. Choc v1 has completely different keycap mounting methods and pin arrangements compared to v2.
Choc v2 maintains the same stem as MX switches while having a thinner profile. Please be careful not to make any mistakes when purchasing. When installing, if something doesn't feel right, do not force it in as this may damage the PCB.
